"Gouden Krijtje" (Golden chalk)
In April 2025, I received the “Gouden Krijtje” (Golden Chalk), awarded by student organization VTK, as the Best Teaching Assistant in the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering 2024–2025 at KU Leuven.
This recognition was for my contribution to the exercise sessions of the Digital Signal Processing course. Apparently, the students appreciated my dynamic (sometimes quite literally—yes, including running around with my chair) approach to teaching. My focus has always been to pinpoint the core of a student’s question and guide them—without simply giving away the answer—towards finding the solution themselves.
Admittedly, after giving the same sessions nine times, the jokes may become a bit predictable… but somehow, they still seem to land. 😉
